The Big Bash League, Australia’s premier Twenty20 cricket competition, has always been a platform for emerging talents and established stars to showcase their skills. As we fast forward to the 2025/26 season, the league has become even more competitive with the introduction of new teams and the inclusion of some of the top players from around the world. With the season coming to an end, let’s take a look at the top performers who lit up the BBL in its 14th edition.
At the top of our list is the explosive opener, Marcus Stoinis. Playing for the Melbourne Stars, Stoinis had a prolific season, scoring 650 runs in 15 matches, with a strike rate of 172. He also hit a record-breaking 8 centuries, becoming the first player in BBL history to achieve this feat. His consistency with the bat earned him the title of the tournament’s top scorer. Not only did he dominate with the bat, but Stoinis also proved to be an asset in the field, taking 12 catches and claiming 7 wickets with his medium pace bowling.
Next up, we have the South African hitter, AB de Villiers who played a crucial role in the success of the Brisbane Heat. De Villiers’ ability to accelerate the scoring rate in the middle overs proved to be a game changer for his team. He finished the season with 591 runs in 13 matches, with a phenomenal strike rate of 181. His explosive batting and magnificent fielding made him a fan favorite and earned him the title of the tournament’s most valuable player.
Other notable performances include the young all-rounder, Cameron Green, who proved to be a vital player for the Perth Scorchers with his consistent performances with both bat and ball. The Sydney Sixers’ captain, Moises Henriques, also had a standout season, finishing with 563 runs and taking 16 wickets. David Warner, who made his comeback from injury to lead the Sydney Thunder, also had an impressive season with 501 runs in just 10 matches.
